The series premiere introduces us to a world where gods, spirits, and supernatural beings exist alongside humans. We meet Yato, a minor, unknown deity who dreams of having millions of followers and his own shrine, but instead, works odd jobs for only 5 yen to survive. The episode sets the tone with a blend of action, comedy, and surprising emotional depth. Key Plot Points

While trying to stop a cat from running into traffic, Yato is almost hit by a bus. A human girl, Hiyori Iki, sees this, mistakes Yato for a pedestrian, and pushes him out of the way, getting hit herself.
