Some viewers find the "spoiled" Mimi arc frustrating, while others appreciate it as essential growth for her character to eventually earn the Crest of Sincerity . There is also a notable behind-the-scenes theory that Togemon did not digivolve in this episode (as expected for a Crest-focused story) because her Ultimate form, Lillymon , had not yet finished being designed.
Mimi finally sings a beautiful song (a standout moment in the soundtrack) that wakes ShogunGekomon. Unfortunately, he wakes up in a destructive rage rather than gratitude.
