With the release of iOS 26 , Apple introduced "Liquid Glass," a design language featuring frosted, transparent, and light-refracting elements. Many users prefer a more traditional, "solid" look for better readability or performance.

1. Visual Customization: Switching from "Liquid Glass" to "Solid"

: To remove the frosted glass effect from the Control Center and app backgrounds, navigate to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and toggle on Reduce Transparency .

: Disabling these transparent effects by turning on Reduce Transparency and Reduce Motion can make the interface feel "snappier" and reduce strain on the CPU/GPU, which is helpful if your battery health is near 80%. 2. Hardware: The "Solid-State" Button Rumors

: You can switch the Lock Screen clock from a "Glass" look to a "Solid" color by long-pressing the Lock Screen, tapping Customize , selecting the clock widget, and picking the Solid option at the bottom.

For several generations, rumors (internally known at Apple as ) have suggested Apple will replace physical, mechanical buttons with solid-state buttons .
