Following his victory over Pompey, Julius Caesar pursues his rival to Alexandria, only to find that King Ptolemy XIII has already had Pompey murdered. Caesar is disgusted by the undignified death of his former friend and demand's Pompey's head and his murderers. While in Egypt, Caesar intervenes in the power struggle between Ptolemy and his sister-wife, Cleopatra.
